Black and White Photography Gallery is an online exhibition of Keith Moss who still uses film along with digital cameras to produce his striking Black and White Photography.
Black and white film; Keith uses a twin lens Rollieflex camera that was built in 1954 and a Leica M6; film choice is Ilford Delta usually 400 ASA and 3200 ASA. Keith still has his own darkroom where he processes all his own black and white film, his chemistry of choice is ID 11 and when it comes to printing silver gelatine prints he uses Ilford multigrade paper developer.
Digital black and white photography; Keith uses a Leica M9 with a combination of fast Leica and Carl Zeiss lenses, processing all in Capture One 6 pro.
Keith believes that all the work should be done in the camera and therefore does no manipulation in post production, using his Leica M9 as he would use his film cameras to record and produce all his black and white silver gelatine prints. Most of Keiths black and white silver gelatine prints are limited to 10.
Keith also has his own gallery based in Brotton, Saltburn by the Sea in the North East of England.
Keith’s subject matter of choice is Street Photography which he practices in some of his favourite cities such as Barcelona, Budapest and Dubrovnik. Keith mixes street photography with portraiture, finding inspiration from different cultures and people who are passionate about what they do and who they are. Recording them often in their own environment and capturing their true essence.
Keith also loves landscape and seascape photography, capturing the relationship of all the elements that surround us on a daily basis which often as people we miss. Add the fact that he records this in black and white, adds to the drama and emotion of the finished black and white silver gelatine print.
